Working Together

Recipe for an Allandale kind of kid
Ingredients:
2 cups of humour
2 & ½ cups of kindness
2 teaspoons of looks
1 cup of manners and respect
1 & ½ cups of fun
1 cup of fitness
2 cups of excitement and enthusiasm
Method:
Get 1 big bowl, blend the humour and kindness together until it’s smooth and creamy. Add the 2tps of looks with the cup of fitness, make sure not to over beat as this will make it hard. Pour the 2 cups of excitement and enthusiasm and stir with a wooden spoon for 15 seconds. Slowly drip the fun into the mixture, be careful not to drop it in too quickly.
Put it into an amazing school like ALLANDALE SCHOOL and every now and then sprinkle it with manners and respect.

Crazy hair day at Allandale School

What a great start to an amazing learning day at Allandale School, CRAZY HAIR day!

IEP meetings

Today I led another IEP meeting for another wonderful Allandale child. These meetings are our opportunity to get together to focus on one child, her dreams and aspirations, the wishes of her parents and the goals of all our staff. Time to celebrate the successes and reflect on where yo next. Well done everyone and I'm looking forward to an exciting future.

Writing inquiry

Today we reflected on our writing inquiry. We begun this process with the support of our literacy adviser, Colleen Wills. The process was one of the most user-friendly ones I have been introduced to and therefore I thought it was worth sharing the steps.

  • Identify your target learners - this step gave us the opportunity to analysis all data around the learners, especially focusing on the eAsTtle rubric.
  • Tracking the learners areas of process - patterns and trends were clear through using this process.
  • TEACHING AS INQUIRY LOG - this is the powerful sort. Under the below headings we noticed, planned and reflected.
  1. Analytical Talk - What strategies are most likely to help my students learn what they need to learn? What strategies will accelerate students' progress?
  2. Critical Talk - What was the impact on my shifts in practice?
  3. Challenging Talk - What happened as a result of the teaching, and what re the implications for future teaching?
  • Personal Teaching as Inquiry Research Log

Staff Meetings

Staff meetings at Allandale School begin and end with a karakia. It is a place where we get together to make shared decisions about the future directions of our school.   Today at our staff meeting we discussed the possibility for doing PB4L at Allandale School next year.

Learning Together

Working alongside some amazing teachers. Thank you for being such a great team.
Recently we had our literacy adviser Colleen Wills in observing our teaching and gathering student voice data. Congratulations the Year 4 team on delivering amazing lessons that provide transparent teaching and learning for all your students!
